Two-Phase Upgrade Brings Future-ready Network to Rural Kansas

Home, Kan. - Monday, August 7, 2023 - A project nearly two years in the making is about to become reality in the BVT service area! Starting at midnight on Tuesday, August 15th and working through the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 16th, the BVT network will undergo the first phase of a two-phase upgrade and redesign which will ensure it is future-ready for all the upcoming broadband demands projected to be placed on it. The team could not be more excited to bring these updates to rural Kansas!

BVT Chief Executive Officer, Candace Wright stated, “We are ecstatic about this project and what it means for our customers. Our goal has always been to provide our customers with the best technology possible. This network upgrade not only puts Blue Valley’s network in front of future demands but also takes our customers well into the future with it." She clarified, “While the components of this project are complicated, the one thing I hope everyone knows is that we are doing this for our customers. Their connectivity has always been and will always be at the forefront of all our decisions.”

The first phase of this project is an upgrade of the core equipment that routes all the BVT network traffic. During the maintenance window of midnight to 5:00 a.m. on August 16, customers may experience up to two hours of service interruptions.  

Customers will receive notifications prior to the upgrade. Once phase one has been completed, the second step will be to expand and upgrade the fiber ring which connects all 21 BVT communities together.  Customers will also receive notifications prior to the second phase being carried out.
