Blue Valley Technologies Awarded Kansas ADOPT Grant to Expand Public Wi-Fi in Marshall County Parks

August 15, 2025

August 15, 2025, Home, Kan. - Blue Valley Technologies (BVT) is proud to announce its selection as a recipient of the Kansas ADOPT (Advancing Digital Opportunities to Promote Technology) grant, awarded by the Kansas Office of Broadband Development (KOBD). This funding will support the expansion of public Wi-Fi access in city parks across Marysville, Frankfort, and Blue Rapids, enhancing digital connectivity for residents and visitors alike.

The grant application was strongly supported by letters of endorsement from the Marshall County Commissioners, Marshall County Partnership for Growth, Kansas State Representative Lisa M. Moser, and the Cities of Marysville, Frankfort, and Blue Rapids, as well as numerous other core community leaders and organizations. Their collaboration underscores a shared commitment to bridging the digital divide and investing in the future of Marshall County.

“This project is a testament to what can happen when communities come together to support digital equity,” said Candace Wright, CEO of Blue Valley Technologies. “We’re excited to bring reliable internet access to public spaces where families gather, students study, and neighbors connect. It’s about keeping people connected to what matters most and making technology work for everyone."

Moser, who serves Jewell, Marshall, Republic, and Washington Counties, said in her support letter, “Families who are economically disadvantaged and do not have [broadband] in their homes, will now have the opportunity to utilize free Wi-Fi. Even in Marshall County, where BVT has already done so much to help local communities with communications, broadband challenges remain."

Moser also mentioned that installing and supporting free Wi-Fi in these city parks is yet another example of BVT’s commitment to the area and the people it serves, stating, "We are so very fortunate to have this community-minded business in Marshall County.”

The ADOPT grant program is part of Kansas’s broader Digital Equity Plan, which aims to improve access to broadband, devices, and digital skills across underserved communities. BVT’s project will install high-speed public Wi-Fi infrastructure thus creating more inclusive and connected community spaces.
